Serbia is a country that has long been misunderstood in the world mainly because of the political and social trouble the recent wars have created. People have forgotten what Serbia truly is, a beautiful land with a rich culture and history, consisting of very proud people.

Serbia, is a landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central- and Southeastern Europe, covering the southern lowlands of the Carpathian basin and central part of the Balkans. Serbia borders Hungary to the north; Romania, Bulgaria to the east; Republic of Macedonia to the south; and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro to the west; its border with Albania is disputed. Despite the country's small size, the EU's largest river and tributary to the Black sea, the Danube, passes through Serbia with 21% of its overall length, joined by its biggest tributaries, the Sava and Tisa rivers.Serbia's capital city, Belgrade, is among the most populous in Southeastern Europe.

After their settlement in the Balkans, Serbs formed a medieval kingdom that evolved into a Serbian Empire, which reached its peak in the 14th century. By the 16th century Serbian lands were conquered and occupied by Ottomans, at times interrupted by the Habsburgs. In the early 1800s, Serbian revolution established the country as the region's first constitutional monarchy which subsequently expanded its territory, pioneering the abolition of feudalism and serfdom in the Southeastern Europe. The former Habsburg crownland of Vojvodina joined Serbia in 1918. Decimated as a result of World War I, the country united with other South Slavic peoples into a Yugoslav state which would exist in several formations up until 2006, when Serbia once again became independent.

In February 2008, the parliament of Kosovo, Serbia's southern province with an ethnic Albanian majority, declared independence. The response from the international community has been mixed. Serbia regards Kosovo as its autonomous province governed by UNMIK, a UN mission.

Serbia is a member of the United Nations, Council of Europe, BSEC and will preside over the CEFTA in 2010. Serbia is classified as an emerging and developing economy by the International Monetary Fund and an upper-middle income economy by the World Bank. WTO accession is expected in 2010. Serbia has a high Human Development Index and Freedom House in 2008 listed Serbia as one of few free Balkan states. The country is also an EU membership applicant and a militarily neutral country.

Serbs are very proud of their food. We have a rich cuisine and a large diversity of alcohol beverages that accompany these amazing dishes. The whole cuisine is derived from a mixture of influences coming from Mediterranean, especially Greek influences, Hungary, Turkish and Austrian cuisines. Serbia has a lot to offer regarding its food, to help visitors catch local flavors and gain an unforgettable experience. Serbs love their food and although meat takes the majority of the Serbian table there is still room for a passion about fish and seafood. Almost all the food is organic which gives the food its original taste with flavors that tickle your senses.

Golubac Fortress was a medieval fortified town on the right side of the Danube River, 4 kilometers downstream from the modern-day town of Golubac, Serbia. The fortress, which was most likely built during the 14th century, is split into three compounds which were built in stages. It has ten towers, most of which started square, and several of which received many-sided reinforcements with the advent of firearms.

Drvengrad (Serbian Cyrillic: Дрвенград, meaning Timber Town), also known as Küstendorf and Mećavnik, is a traditional village that the Serbian film director Emir Kusturica built for his film Life Is a Miracle. It is located in the Zlatibor District near the city of Užice, two hundred kilometers southwest of Serbia's capital, Belgrade.

This thread is not offensive to anyone and if you like it stay here and watch pictures, if no please go away.

So I'm supposed to watch pictures and not ask questions? What is this, a dictatorship? I don't think eRepublik allows those.

Belgrade (Serbian: Београд / Beograd) is the capital and largest city of Serbia. The city is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. Its name in English translates to White city. The city proper has a population of over 1.1 million, while its metropolitan area has over 1.9 million people, making it one of the largest cities in Southeast Europe.
