eRepublik provides, in a way, a second life, a virtual one but based on real life concepts - work, eat, train, buy, fight. In order to complement this better it would be a good idea to let us, citizens, sleep. How would it work?

Every citizen would be allowed to sleep once per day for up to 8 hours. When asleep, the energy "reserve", i.e. the amount of energy a citizen can recover, would have no limits. For example, I have 800hp with 200hp more available to recover. I go to sleep mode and wake up 8 hours later. Now I have still 800hp and can recover 200hp+800hp (8x100hp/hour assuming the standard regeneration rate) or +1600hp (double regeneration rate).

Once elected to sleep, the account would become "passive" or "read-only". A sleeping citizen would not be permitted to take any action, like eating, buying, working, fighting, commenting. Basically, all action buttons would become disabled except one - wake up. Once woken up, the account would go back to normal and the sleep would not be available until the next day.

A possible drawback would be morning BH hunters with 80 hits more. Allowing us to sleep would improve the economy, because with more available energy each day, we would buy more food and weapons, which in turn would increase the demand and make companies more profitable and jobs better paid.

Then what's stopping me from leaving my character in sleep mode for a few weeks and coming back with a ton of energy to dominate the battlefield?

It sounds good but people won't need food anymore, unless there will be limits or rules for it.

8 hours of sleep limit. What you describe would be a coma mode, not sleep.

No, in my suggestion sleeping wouldn't give any free energy. It would just increase the amount of recoverable energy. You'd still need food to recover it, as normal.

sleep modes is crap.  there is games with sleep mode.  also you can still recover double energy.  before you go to sleep regenerate your energy to full when you sleep (rl) now and wake up the next morning you will have say 800 + another 800 available energy but you can in 1 action use more than 800 energy.

Like the idea, if we don't want to waste energy, we practically need to login every 4 hours to eat food, which is kinda annoying, this would be a nice change, or atleast a chance for auto-recover energy e.g 1600 energy (full energy) instead of only 800 energy, since nowadays when you reach 800/800 hp it just stop counting, this way we wont need to login every 4 hours, every 8 h is acceptable
