Hello dear citizens,

As this game is based on democratic form of government I would like to suggest a new feature related to the political side of the game.

The feature (As you can guess from the title) is an option to make a national referendum in each country OR a national survey.

What does National referendum mean? It means that the government will have an option to make a referendum in different topics in the game like taxes, mutual protection pacts and even wars. All the citizens of the country (above an agreed level) will have the right to vote. The results will determine the decision of the law. However, in order to let the congress to keep its power, each congress member's vote will have "double power" OR the citizens might have only 50% of the final results (the congress votes worth 50%).

Why would we do that? Well, this feature can't help to make the game better, but it can be fun to let the citizens take part in the decision making.

Of course that it can encourage people to make multies and destroy countries by this feature, but the government will have the power to start a referendum.

What does National survey mean? It means that the government will have an option to start a national survey in different topics related to the game. The final results won't have any influence on the final decision of a law, it will be only a tool to see that position of the citizens on various topics.

Why would we do that? To encourage citizens to take an active part in the politics and let them have the felling of having an influence on the government decisions.

This feature is not dangerous but it can't make the game better as well, just another tool to make the game a more democratic place and more fun.

These suggestions are general, I am not going to give more details as I think that this is the role of the admins.

I am almost sure that these ideas won't be implemented so I don't want to write more.

Thank you for reading my short post, I wish you a nice weekend!

Regards, Miki.

Great idea but just the national survey

So a government takes a snapshot/opinion poll on whatever subject but it can ignore the result (at its peril)

A referendum would be sort of rendered obsolete if you have a survey as that should be enough to give the government a mandate, however I guess a referendum does offer higher transparency if a survey isn't publicly released. That's the only benefit I can see really, however I do like your survey idea.

And that's why both have been proposed. ;)
