Hello dear players of eRepublik! Except the messages, IRC is the other way for communication. In these times IRC isn't very popular, so one big part of the users don't know how to use it. Here is a little tutorial on how to connect to IRC channels.

  • More information about IRC.
    • IRC is a protocol for real time chat. It's created in 1988.
    • The structure: Network - Server - Channel
  • How to join a channel?
    • To connect to channel first you will need an IRC client. This can be a browser based or software which can be installed on your OS. In this tutorial I will use Mibbit which is maybe the most popular browser based client around here.
  1. Go to http://chat.mibbit.com/   You will see the following page:
    Spoiler
  2. From the Connect list you must choose the network to which you will connect. The most used network for eRepublik is Rizon
    Spoiler
  3. In the Nick field you must write the nick which you will use.
    Spoiler
  4. And the Channel field is the place where you put the name of the channel to which you want to connect. Every channel name starts with # in front of it!!!
    Spoiler
  5. After you have filled these steps, just press Connect!
    Spoiler

Congratulations! You just connected to a channel! Now you can start chatting!

What now?

  • How to connect to other channel?
    • You can do this by typing  /join #channel

Where #channel is the name of the channel with # in front of it.

  • How to register my nick?
    • You can do this by typing  /msg NickServ REGISTER password email

Where   password is the password which you will use to identify   and  email   is your email. Make sure your email is valid because there you will receive the confirmation email.

  • How to identify?
    • This can be done by typing  /msg NickServ password

Where password is the password you used earlier in the registration process.

  • Software clients
    • You can download and install an IRC client. One of the most popular client for windows are mIRC, KVirc and X-Chat. For Mozilla Firefox you can use Chatzilla and for Google Chrome CIRC.
  • Register a channel
    • Maybe you want to create your own channel. The command is: /msg chanserv register #channel password description

#channel is the channel name

password is the channel password so you can identify as owner

description is the description of the chan

You must have OP in the chan to register it or with other words you must join an empty unregistered channel.

After you registered a chan you must type the following commands:

/msg ChanServ set #channel ownermode ON

/msg ChanServ set #channel protectmode ON

Then I highly suggest you to add a bot to your chan.  Via the bot you will be  able to manage it easier.

Add a bot by the following command:  /msg BotServ assign #channel bot

Where bot is the bot name. You can see the available bots by: /msg BotServ botlist   The most popular bots are [^_^], Rizon, War and Sexy.

Yea, you should add some more screenshoots, also adding a real irc program would be great(like mIRC or kvirc).
