Dear eRep society memebers,

You are probably familiar with this page

http://wiki.erepubli...:Game_Moderator

Trusted people are taking care of a quality of a game, in a transpartent way, right?

Recently I submited a ticket asking if a particular person is a "Game Moderator" or not.

The answer was a bit surprising:

Hello Yarpen,

Unfortunately we can not give those informations.

You can see a list of public eRepublik Moderators on our Wiki page (http://wiki.erepubli...:Game_Moderator ). If the player by you mentioned is not in that list it means that he either is not part of eRepublik Team or decided to stay anonymous.

Kind regards,
Your eRepublik Team

Do you think moderators should have the option of "staying anonymous" or should they be known to the Society?

Some moderators don't fancy the idea of being verbally harassed or trolled by this gaming community for just doing their jobs.

If anonymity makes that moderator's job/tasks easier, why not.

Quite opposite - some players can claim they are Mods and can harass or troll, even threaten other players - benefiting from lack of possibility to verify if the are or are not Mods...

Impersonating as a Mod... is a violation of the Terms of Service under "content standards and licence" in 6.8.4 & 6.8.5

If you believe this is the case, you report such a matter trough the established ticket system.

Ok, so much for the official statement.

I have to add that it is more likely, and would happen more frequently, that a normal player would troll a Mod then that a Mod would troll or harras another player.

There are a few exception where former Mods did do this, but you can not judge the entire moderator-staff based on these exception.

Point 6.8 of T&S referes to erepublik website - what about external websites or IRC?

That's exactly what I am refering to. When you're in a dispute/conflict with another regular player - and you hear ironic "send a ticket, I will happily consider" - what you do? You check if this person is a Mod or not. Via a ticket... The answer you get I submitted below.

You recommend ... sending a ticket again

It is called "Catch 22"

Having the option of staying anonymous - there is no way to verify if someone is a mod or only impersonate it...

That's why I believe this society role should not be possible to be hidden/anonymous.

As we do not know who is actually resolving tickets - then there is no option to troll the Mod on a given case...

I said that if you believe someone is impersonating as a Mod, you report it.

That does not mean you have to ask if that person is a Mod.

Those are 2 different things

Point 6.8 of T&S referes to erepublik website - what about external websites or IRC?

We are talking about Game-Moderators.

6.1 These provisions apply to any and all Content which you contribute to our Website and/ or the eRepublik.com Service, and to any interactive services associated with it, including the eAPI System.

I think this covers your question.... i think

To be sure of these matters it might be best if an admin(or anyone else qualified) could answer on this matter.

Handling tickets does not exclude the possibility of being trolled or so.

Sometimes just knowing that that person is a Mod is sometimes enough for bad players to harass or troll this Mod, the mod doesn't even have to do anything to being harassed.

If a Moderator wants to stay anonymous, by all means they have a right to.

Consider the amount of message spam you'd receive requesting help, trolls attempting to annoy you or any other public related nuisance caused by the public listing of your role and name.

You definitely missed something...

For some reason the people/players listed on the page I linked do not have any problems you indicated.
