Greetings, my fellow citizens and those Erepublik crew members who end up reading this!
I've been playing Erepublik since 2008 and now that the game celebrates its 8th anniversary I decided to write down my own thoughts considering the most interesting aspect of this game: the Political module.
I already sended some feedback to admins considering the same subject. Although the Political module is for many (if not for most) players the most interesting part of this game there has not been any significant progress in it. The politics offer so much more meaning to fighting on the battlefield but now that the politics have become pretty meaningless many wars have also lost their meaning. I'd like to point out to you the fact, that the political module has been ignored for a long time.
The change in elections which made us move from voting individuals to voting political parties has a key role in this. Individual players lost their interest to campaign because it didn't matter so much now that people would vote only the party. Atleast in eFinland, where I've spent most of my eLife, the political threatre is dead - the only time someone dares to mention politics is during the presidential elections but while most of the people are inactive and doesn't care about active discussion in public those elections are more about finding someone active enough to handle the job. Dictatorship also has its part in this and while most countries have their own dictator for securing their country from PTO's there is no point in campaigning for presidency while the president doesn't really have any power.
I've loved the political aspect of this game and what I hope is that the Erepublik crew would once again consentrate their attention to this part of the game. As far as I understand it, the War module works pretty well and now we should find other ways to develope this game. This is why I propose that we would start from taking a step back to times when we voted individual players instead of political parties. I don't think that fixes everything but we have many good years in the past as a proof for its working. I believe that it would "force" individual players to do more for the seat in congress and this might activate media and bring more meaning to the congressional elections itself.
I believe that there is so much we can do if we wish to develope the political module and I'd like to hear my fellow citizens thoughts about this. My point here is not to blame admins for a poor update on game, because we can never be truly sure how these changes affect the game. But now that we've seen how voting arties instead of individual candidates affects the politics I believe is our change to make a difference and start to consider other options and updates for the system.
