Dear Citizens,

During the last few months, Plato and his team of elves have been working hard on making changes in eRepublik. However, as Plato is getting older and older, the memory is playing tricks on him, making him forget things.

Along which each change in the eWorld, the Wiki is always up-to-date. The Wiki is the main source of information about eRepublik mechanics, modules, Citizens, Parties, Countries or Military Units. Any Citizen can access the Wiki or edit it (this requires having a Wiki account). All pages must be primarily in English language, but they can be translated into other languages as well. This is where Plato got somehow lost over the past few months, so he’s asking for your help!

We’re looking for Citizens to help us translate some pages on the eRepublik Wiki. With the recent updates and changes there are a lot of pages that have not been translated and are only available in English language only. Don’t worry if you’ve never edited the Wiki, we have plenty of guides and tutorials on how to do it. Moreover, we have lovely editors who can answer your questions or assist you in case you need help.

Does Wiki offer any rewards?
The answer is yes, the reward system that is currently in place looks like this:
http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/eRepublik_Official_Wiki:Rewards The rewards are updated on the first day of each month, based on the scores for the last 30 days. The scores concise of the pages edited and the changes made (however, making many small changes on one page is unlikely to affect the score). The current statistics for the last 30 days can be seen here. Please keep in mind that these change daily, but the score will only be taken down on the 1st of September.

Good news is Plato has decided to be more generous during August. The usual rewards for each month consist of 15 gold for the top 3 editors and 5 gold for editors ranked between 4th and 7th place.

In August, however, the rewards will be as follows:
1st Place: €14.9 pack (Infantry Kit, Blitzkrieg Pack etc)
2nd Place: €9.9 pack (War Stash, Combat Stash, Tycoon Pack etc)
3rd Place: 50 gold
4th Place: 45 gold
5th Place: 40 gold
6th Place: 35 gold
7th Place: 30 gold
8th Place: 25 gold
9th Place: 20 gold
10th Place: 15 gold

Where do I start?
First of all, you will need a Wiki account. If you already have it, you can skip this step. If you don’t, you can request a wiki account here. Once you request your account, you will get a link via email which you’ll need to access. We will then approve your account as soon as possible. It is essential that you click on the link, as your password will be sent to the same email address. If you have trouble with these steps, feel free to ask questions below and we will gladly answer them.

If you have never edited or translated anything on Wiki, don’t worry! This is where the tutorials come in handy:
http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Help:Translating_Pages
http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Help:Editing
http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Help:Style_Guide
http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Help:Tips

It is important that all the pages follow the styles and the guidelines, hence it would be worthwhile to take a moment and read thoroughly at least the Translating Pages tutorial.

What pages are there to translate?

Below you will find some of the pages that need to be translated.

On each page you will see a language bar, which shows what languages the respective page has been translated into. On the other hand, the flags under the "show more" button mark the languages currently missing from the page translation. All you need to do is click on the flag, click on the “Edit” link and you will be on the editor’s page. Copy the content of the English page (by clicking on the “Edit” button) and paste it on the page of the language you’re trying to translate. After that, you can work your magic and make the English lines change into your own language

But this is bad idea.

Better ask eRep Ambassadors (Translators) to do this (not free, ofc). In that case eRep and Wiki will be translated in one style.

Great idea and nice little "event" :)

Side note: Maybe you should reconsider the usual payment- and ranking system on the wiki. Some people really invest their time in this project and (at least in my eyes) 15 gold aren't that much for such an effort :/

Just give a payment based on your performance, not in others ones. People is risk averse and they are giving their time away almost for free. You don't need to create another competition to translate in the wiki page.

My 2 cents

Would you pay for Afrikaans translation as well.  BTW that is my home language and as you know I'm very proficient in english as well.

Just as an update, for the rewards for next month any wiki Administrators won't be included in the final reward table.

But this is bad idea.

Better ask eRep Ambassadors (Translators) to do this (not free, ofc). In that case eRep and Wiki will be translated in one style.

The wiki is an open community project, hence we didn't want to make restrictions as of who can translate and who cannot.

That is a fair point, we will see how well this project goes and see whether we can make any changes to the reward system or have different wiki projects with different aims/objectives every few months.

There is already an article about Pollution: http://wiki.erepubli...x.php/Pollution the wiki does contain pages about pretty much most parts of the game :) The list above is only for guidance. All pages are translated into different languages, some languages are less popular and some languages are more popular ;) You can find most pages and other categories under here: http://wiki.erepubli...laying_the_Game

Would you pay for Afrikaans translation as well.  BTW that is my home language and as you know I'm very proficient in english as well.

Any wiki contributions are counted for this month, that does include translations but other page edits as well. You can find the policy for adding new languages here: http://wiki.erepubli..._a_New_Language

I just translated two pages that weren't available in Romanian, and as I checked the other pages I noticed some lower-quality translations - wrong or missing punctuation and spacing, missing diacritics, and less than optimal expressions. How exactly will the translations be evaluated?

Could you please provide me with some links/examples so I can get one of my colleagues to take a look and I'll get back to you with the final decision.

http://wiki.erepubli...wer_spin/Română (generally good - no diacritics, minor spacing issues, no translation for "eRepublik time")

http://wiki.erepubli...hallenge/Română (pretty bad for how short it is - wrong spacing/punctuation, no diacritics, wrong thousand separator, again no translation for "eRepublik time")

http://wiki.erepubli...ift_pack/Română (moderately good - no diacritics, spacing issues, wrong thousand separator)

http://wiki.erepubli...ntry_kit/Română (slightly bad - no diacritics, typos, spacing issues, sub-optimal translation for "aircraft battles" - "Bătălii aeriene" is better)
