We're looking for Game Translators speaking: Albanian, Brazillian Portuguese, Croatian and Indonesian . (you need to be a native speaker of the language you're applying for).
What is the eRepublik Game Translators project?
Dear citizens,
The Game Translators Project started in March 2012 when one Greek student joined our team as a consultant and reviewer for our Greek translation. Since then tens of players worked to create and continuously update no less than 30 languages.
The most important role of the Game Translators is keeping the local versions up to date with all the changes implemented in eRepublik. Each new feature is bound to come with new texts that need to be translated by native speakers of each of the 30 languages. And this brings us to the next chapter of this page.
What makes a good Game Translator
Helping your fellow countrymen understand eRepublik is a big responsibility. We want to make sure that each of our translators is:
  • Native speakers of his chosen language – Nobody can know better than a local how each nation speaks and the subtle differences that can change the entire meaning of a sentence. We would like each translated version of eRepublik to read like it was created by a local... that's why we are looking to build a team of native speakers.
  • Very knowledgeable of his language – Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation of your (native) language are just basic requirements. Most times translating requires you to interpret and adapt a text so it sounds natural to the audience in your country. We encourage our translators to be creative and do more than a word to word translation - that's why we are looking for candidates who are comfortable with writing in their own language
  • Proficient in English – Since the translation is done from English to your language, it's sort of a given that you should be able to understand English.
  • Playing the game actively – You can make the best possible translation because you know the context of the game. Therefore you know exactly what each word means in that context. That's why we would like you to be an active player. The second reason is that translations need to be completed in a timely fashion. This doesn't mean you have to be online 24/7. If you are busy with your own projects, going on holiday, etc, the team will cover for you. But most times we would like you to step in and help the team, that's why you should be around.
  • In love with spam – We have serious amounts of spam and trolling in our inside-the-team communication channels. You should be prepared for that, ideally even thrive in such an environment.
How to apply
If you're interested in joining the translations team, please send us a ticket via the contact form and choose the Translations category. Please tell us in 2-3 lines about yourself in RL and why you would fit good with our crew. Who knows, we may even welcome you aboard.
  • Note that you will receive an answer only if your application was accepted. If you don't get selected, your application will still be kept in our records and will be considered the next time we recruit.

Hi there,

I'm afraid we're currently not looking for a Portuguese or Brazilian moderator.
