The term "the Ukraine" is incorrect both grammatically and politically. Back in the day, those who called it "the Ukraine" in English must have known that the word meant "borderland". Thus, it was referred to as "the borderland".
The Ukraine is the way the Russians referred to it during Soviet times. Now that it is a country, a nation, and a recognized state. And it is incorrect to refer to the Ukraine, even though a lot of people do it. Thus, I propose to change the name to the historically and politically correct term of Ukraine-Ruthenia.
