Disclaimer

The eRepublik Team is happy to introduce its latest project, meant to help the community from within: The Plato Foundation.

Please keep in mind that the following version of the rules and mechanics is not definitive - this project still needs user feedback, so don’t be surprised if some of the details will change in the future. The first month will be a test round, which will help figure out last details and deal with possible concerns. At the same time, any suggestions you might have are welcome.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this! Feel free to let us know in the comments below.

The Plato Foundation

Plato always had a heart for the community. He loves to see Citizens helping each other and coming together for the good of the community. Whether it’s the tools that make everyone’s eLife easier, good articles that inspire or baby booms, he wants to reward it, which is why he came up with the idea of a Foundation - Plato’s Foundation!

Its purpose

Plato’s fortune is legendary - some even say it’s endless! This project gets finances from Plato and distributes them to players who stand out in helping the eRepublik community. The Plato Foundation can provide Gold for individual players, or fund programs meant to help larger numbers of players. Anything to help the community!

Representatives:

Given that this is a project of the community for the community, top players and leaders of their eCountries will be asked to join Plato in his efforts.

The Board of trustees is formed out of:

2 Community Officers

3 eRepublik Volunteer Moderators

4 independent high profile players (proposed and voted by the members of the board)

The members will be changed monthly.

The Board of trustees discusses the proposed projects in the private Discord channel [will be set soon].

Steps for submitting a project:

Come up with an idea!

Are you trying to help your community grow? Do you want to support new players? Are you aware of a need that needs to be met? Do you think that a player needs to be rewarded for his activity within/for the community? We’re here to help!

Write your presentation…

Under the form of an article. Describe your project clearly, giving details about how it will work, its goals and the impact it should have on the eRepublik community. We’d also love to hear about similar projects from the past and effect they had. Last, but not least, let us know about your personal contribution to the project, whether it’s  time or resources - all help is welcomed! Remember that transparency is key here so try to be as clear as possible when it comes to these details.

The article MUST be written in English. You can, if you want to, translate it in one or more languages if you think it is necessary, but make sure the English version is written clearly.

Get the community on board!

Once you have published your article, you should try to make it popular - shout it and get the community to vote and comment on it. We want to hear the opinions of other Citizens as well.

Submit it

Once you are happy with your project and the community’s feedback, submit it officially via the Discord channel of the Plato Foundation. You can also propose projects that aren’t yours but you consider as a good cause for the Plato Foundation. Congratulations! The following days you should be available to answer any other questions the Board might have and wait for the list of projects that have been chosen.

Timeline:

Grants and sponsorships will be given weekly. Throughout the week, players can submit projects which will be analyzed by the board. The voting takes place on Monday and the winning projects of the week will be announced through an article which will be posted each week on Tuesday.

Types of Sponsorship:

One time sponsorships

Are contributing with resources to one time events as contests, programs aimed at growing eRepublik (programs aimed at new users, players behind baby booms), outstanding articles etc.

Sponsorships reward individual projects. The Gold Reward of maximum 500 Gold is given all at once. However, a Citizen can apply/be proposed again if they come up with a new project.

Grants

Rewarding continuous work on projects that adhere to the foundation mission. Those can include developers of external tools that significantly benefit the community, volunteers in the team with outstanding performance, journalists that work on a series of relevant and high quality articles (i.e. a world status update).

Grants offer a maximum of 1000 Gold over a period of one month. The Gold will be transferred to the project leader to be shared according to the rules proposed. At the end of each week, he must post a follow-up article, giving details about how the Gold has been used, before the next deposit is made. If the resources haven’t been used as promised, the board can choose to stop the funding. At the end of the month, the project can be proposed again for a Grant.

Budget

As a starting point Plato's Foundation has a monthly budget of 6000 Gold, which will be used depending on the number and quality of the projects proposed. However, depending on the quality of the projects received and quantity, Plato might dig deeper in his gold bag at the next iterations.  The Gold will be used depending on the number and quality of the projects proposed. If it hasn’t been used, the weekly budget of 1500 Gold will be reported to the following week, but it cannot be reported from one month to another.

How the projects are chosen:

All submitted projects are discussed with the board. If the members vote to support the project, a trustee is appointed. At the same time, a budget is established for the project. The board also establishes whether the project qualifies as a one time sponsorship or a grant (for example, a player might apply for a grant, but a one time sponsorship could be more fitted for him).

Sigh...

How much time have passed since introducing air battles and perception is still vague icon in our profiles?

Residence is still new, so I get it'll take some years till it's forgotten.

How much time passed since introducing maverick pack or infantry kit and killing the last working module for new players?

How much time passed since... countless changes that torn this game apart making it pay to win milking machine?

The general idea could be good but like 5 years ago - atm. I doubt it will procure any visible results. Simply because it's too late and it took too much Plato-efforts to kill almost every single one thing that bound community together (except battle module and articles).

These things would fix the game.

  1. Start all over again all players including mine
  2. After the game runs a bit reintroduce alliances but have controls make sure no alliance dominates
  3. Limit how much players are allowed to buy
  4. Actively find cheats and mulities and ban them "like you used to"
  5. Do what you said you would do like the aircraft industry
  6. Do not abandon the game yourself, how do you expect players to stay when months go without any news

Do this and the game will have new life.

How about you bring back 5 gold per medal rather than 1,000 currency per medal?

When it was switched from gold to currency, you said this "helped" the players, which was a complete and utter lie. With inflation, new players can hardly afford weapons or food to fight with.

If you really did care about new players, you would do anything you can retain them. Every country's population keeps falling. Baby booms are temporary because no-one actually bothers to stay.

If you want some real advice and want to introduce new things, how about you finish the old ones first?

Where the hell are the Q6/Q7 houses? Where the hell are the aircraft weapons Q2/Q3/Q4/Q5/Q6/Q7? Where the hell is the perception training? What the hell happened to residence?

If you can't manage these things, what the hell makes you think you can manage a new thing?

Well, I think this topic was filled up with ideas for improving the game, but no ideas for improving the foundation.

My 50 cents.

1. If you're going to create a logo, use him, please. It's a very faithful representation of the Foundation.

 Pp2OC8n.png

2. I think the Foundation should reward the governments (CP, Ministers, Congressmen, Mayor and City Counciliors) and the political parties who promotes activity in their ecounties in-game (using newspapers, feeds and more) and the citizens who promotes new ways to play eR.

3. The Foundation must be in charge to revive the tutors and tutorial program and make it totally public. Besides, you must FIX THIS

Seriously, We need to know who are the new citizens IN REAL TIME. eR Deutschland help us a lot, but that isn't enough because when we reach them, they are already off-line (maybe forever)

The Plato Foundation is a very good idea.

However, the structural problem of the game is still around. For real, be courageous and restart the military and economic module from zero, so new players actually stay play.

Give back gold to the old players with all training centers and/or lots of corporations and/or stocks as a form of compensation and lets start those two modules from zero.

Changing the map so all nations have an equal or almost equal amount of regions would be nice too.

The game will slowly die without structural changes.

If you want to make sense to this project YOU must remove Maverick pack (which is a special supply pack  :) ) , Infantry kit (which is also a special supply pack  :) ) and that  "special supply pack or kit" (  :) ) with 2K House.

That is the only way to make the game interesting to new players, otherwise the game will die  :( .

Sincerely your

Mc Lui

Finally someone who understood what this topic is all about. :D

although i do not agree with point 2. Sometimes(more often then the other way around) it is the private citizen that makes it work for a community project. I would not make it an exclusively government supported project.

Oh from where to start?

1. Fix division system! Divisions SHOULDNT depend from experience! But dont do it to depend by strength, cuz that will be major mistake! That way once a player for example in D2 reach the cap... he will just stop training and will stay forever in his division. The only fair decision that would work is divs to depend from damage per hit!!! That way even if you stop training, by fighting and gaining ranks still will increase your damage per hit and will go to next div. Also if divs dont depend by exp that way the new players will have possibility to invest in companies and farming, w/o worring about the exp points and fast progress in divisions.

2. Make separate division for brand new players. All new players to start and play there untill they reach adult citizen. That way they will have their chance to make some resources which they will use in current D1. Else what are the chances of one new comer vs someone with 130 000+ strength and rank at least legend? - that is killing the interest of 99% of new comers. Also during that period some of those new players could adict to the game and will stay even when they move to current D1.

3. Bring back the promo for company upgrades. Finally after many years you did something about economic and now is profitable to produce and sell. But how to happen if you are new player or you are returning to the game after big period of resting from the game? Stop being too greedy and forcing players to buy gold for company upgrades.

4. Make something with those useless bazookas and bazooka boosters! For the new comers... they dont have bazookas and they dont need those bazooka boosters, for rest of us they are meaningless. Why to hit with bazooka, when even with booster will do just  50 000 dmg per hit, while in same with Q7 will do 300 000-500 000+ per hit? If you fix that those boosters will start  worth something and may be more players will start buying stashes to get them. So its win-win situation for both sides.

5. Remove that useless cap of 40 0000 prestige points. Return the energy bars gain after 40K PP. Else what is the point to tank and eat ebs after that mark? If you do that more players will tank, which means they will burn more gold for ebs. With 20 ebs for each 1000 prestige points (which is 100 ebs, 50 in epic) as it was that will cause more players to fight after that mark!

6. Fix epic damage formula. It is stupid the amount of damage needed for epic to depend from amount of epics in previous week. And make a cap for D4. Let all of us be sure that when we did 10 billion dmg in D4 the battle will turn into epic. There is a reason why D4 epics are so rare already.

7.  Add perception. It is about time.

8. Thanks to True Patriot medal... now most players are fighting for their countries and they dont hit for their allies if there is not an epic or really big CO. So stimulate the players to fight again for their allies, by adding The true ally medal. Rewards could work same way as TP medal.

9. Fix the bug with determinition bonus! Right now even when a country get their original region the determinition in that region is keep growing instead of decreasing! It is not fun when you fight a strong country as Greece for example, to liberate a region with 1.23 determinition bonus and when you attack it 1 day later that bonus to jump to 1.26!!!

10. Give an opportunity to country presidents to start an impeach law against themself. It is not fun to be CP, to beg your Congress to impeach you and they to refuse to start the law... Also CPs could use that law for something like a vote of confidence, starting it by their own will.

11. Ryce the cap for buying gold to 20 gold per day. Even with bigger cap again many players will buy the Tycoon pack. Right now you can do 200-300K CC (even a lot more) from CO mostly in Air rounds. With current cap will take ages to convert that CC into gold even with Tycoon pack! For example if you get 250K CC from CO with current price of gold - 525CC/1 gold and Tycoon pack will need 10 days untill you convert the CC into gold. During those 10 days you can get other 1 mil+ CC from COs... so at some point you reach the point when you have pretty much infinity amounts of CC and nothing to use it.

12. Give us a chance to track the progress of daily Top fighter ranking. When you see how much influence need to get into top100... more players will try to get into top100. You can update the progress each hour and that way everyone will be able to see how he/she is going and how much more dmg need to do. Right now to do that we have to use https://www.erepubli...utschland.de/en And when you are playin from your cell phone... would be a lot easier for everyone.

13. Fix Guerrilla fighting and try to improve it to make it interesting again. Add more gear for equipment and reduce the amount of misses. Cuz with 90% chance to hit its very weird and annoying to miss 6 from 10 shots!  For sure this is NOT 90% chance to hit! Also just like we have divisions make people to fight other players with same bonus dmg. Cuz it is not fair for one new players, with 0 fights to face someone with 2 bonus dmg. It is impossible to win that way, so the gap between new and experienced players in GF will keep growing. Also for those players that already have +1 or +2 bonus will be a lot more interesting to face someone with same bonus, not to be next easy win.

14. Make at  least 1 tournament for each 3 months in worst case. Tournaments and missions making the game more fun and interesting than just to press that big red button. Not to mention that you missed the day 3500 w/o making anything special.

15. Considering how much active players left in the game... reduce the amount of subscribers needed for MM medal. Right now if you are new player simply it is impossible to collect 1000 subs, even if you are very active in the press.

For now thats enough, but actually there is a lot more things that you can improve.

I never said the prizes must be for exclusively government supported projects, I said that governments and political parties (and let me add military units) who's making projects to improve the activity in the community should be rewarded. That obviously doesn't exclude private citizens.

By the way, I also think the Foundation's system to choose projects shouldn't be popularity-based but analyzed all the proposals shown or, at least, debate-based. Always there can be a case of a good idea that's very unpopular or without attracting any interest, and very bad ideas but popular ones.

Finally, I don't know if people developing the Foundation's projects can be in need for an ORG to further implementation. Indeed, I'm always on the side that State's ORG should have companies incorporated.

It's nice to see you make an effort, but in my experience, giving ppl money for "projects" almost never comes to anything.

Even with your tools, policing this would be labor intensive. The time and effort would be better spent on other things imo.
