Dear Citizens,

In order to increase competitiveness in the Raw Materials market starting day Day 3,576 the Raw Materials production will be denominated by a factor of 100.

For these changes to come into effect, a scheduled maintenance will be performed during day Day 3,576 starting 01:00 eRepublik time.

During this maintenance, the game will not be available, all Raw Materials offers on the Marketplace will be canceled and products return to inventories and the amounts in citizen inventories will be denominated. After the update the new amounts will be available to sell.

Example: 100234 Raw Materials units will become 1002.34 units and will occupy 100200 inventory slots.

Before denomination, one would sell 100234 Raw Materials units at 0.04 Currency per unit.

After denomination an equivalent offer would be: sell 1002 Raw Materials units at 4.00 Currency per unit. The 0.34 fraction will remain in the inventory.

New production values for Raw Materials will thus become:

production_values.jpg

Example: At Base Production, a Grain Farm will produce 0.35 Food Raw Materials every day, taking 3 days to create one unit of denominated Food Raw Materials. Partial production will be stored and shown in inventory.

raw_required.jpg

Finished goods Factories’ (Weapons, Food, Houses and Aircraft Weapons) Raw Materials production requirements have also been denominated. These values represent Base Production for 0% productivity bonuses.

Please note that in order to maintain inventory space balance, 1 unit of denominated Raw Materials will take up 100 inventory slots. Also, in order to avoid erroneous offers on the Marketplace, a temporary protection valid until the end of September will disallow  selling Raw Materials at a price below 1 Currency.

It's good for two reasons:

1. Much less problems with storage space Sorry, I can't read.

2. Market offer prices can be set more finely. Today if you want to set your raw quickly, you have to post it at 0.01cc lower, which can be as much as 25% less, so your loss is bigger and it may also attract bots to hunt such cheaper offers.

So the only difference is that now you will be able to sell raw materials at more exact prices and wont have to drop from 0,04 to 0,03 if you want to lower your price. This is actually a really good change :)

Please note that in order to maintain inventory space balance, 1 unit of denominated Raw Materials will take up 100 inventory slots.

How would the inventory space become unbalanced if 1 unit would take 1 inventory slot?

Wouldn't it have been easier to just add two more decimal points to the price you could set raw materials at? There's already a third one available on the monetary market when setting prices and when buying from the monetary market it calculates up to ten or more decimal places in (for whatever reason) so it seems like the game is already set up to calculator sales at fractions of a hundredth of a dollar.

I'm genuinely curious if this was considered as an option and, if so, why it was rejected. I'd really like an answer.

So, the raw devalued itself in the same proportion as the material required for the companies making the prices higher for products, the currency will have more valor than the gold. Let's see what's happen

Overall, this shouldn't make any real difference.  I expect a temporary spike in prices as people don't realize the change doesn't really do anything to numbers of raws.

My main take is...either they can't figure out how to change the code, or it's just plain easier to change the denomination so people can sell large numbers of raw materials easier.  If you have over 100k to sell, it lessens the number of digits.  As well, it allows people to sell raws more competitively.  For WRM's, your not just stuck at .03 or .04, now ppl will be able to sell for .35 (3.50) easily, etc, etc,..  It's main purpose is likely that, and it becomes easier to do this then to figure out how to add 6 digits when selling raws .. vs doing 99999, 2x, 3x, over and over, etc, if you have a lot to sell,..
