During the 1950s, Bayern 1 was the first radio programme of Bayerischer Rundfunk. It was not until 1974 that the program was reformed, resulting in the name that we know today. It is still a popular radio program in Bavaria and in South Tyrol. It has a plethora of information on hand, from local news to weather and traffic news. It is also the most popular radio station in the free state. It has over three million listeners a day.
 
The aforementioned "Bayern One" is a full-blown radio program that includes regional reporting, a comprehensive news coverage, information on the latest developments and pop music. It's also one of the most popular in the country. It is broadcast on both FM and DAB+ in Bavaria and DVB-C in the Upper Bavarian region. It's also available online.
 
Among the most impressive programs are "Heute im Stadion" and "Die Blaue Couch". The latter is a celebrity talk show. The former is a good night story for kids. The aforementioned gimmicks are aplenty on the program's main menu, as are the aforementioned ol' fashioned musical/opera and folk music. Aside from the usual suspects, a new pop music format has been introduced.
 
The most important thing to know about the "Bayern One" is that it's a public radio station operated by Bayerischer Rundfunk. It is available online, on DAB+ in the region, and on DVB-C in all cable networks. It's also available on Deukom.
